This katsina doll is carved by Quinston Taylor from Kykotsmovi.

Quinston purposely put the parrot on the top of the head at a slight angle so that the feathers would not get bent when hung on a wall.

He is 6 1/4 inches tall overall.

Kyaro is a Parrot katsina whose bright colorful feathers are used in various Hopi ceremonies. They dance at a fast pace and appear during Angk’wa in the summer katsina day dances.
